Servicing Your Automatic Transmission

At Seattle transmission repair we care about the life of your car. Transmissions need to be serviced about every 30,000 to 100,000 miles depending on what type of fluid you’re using.

  1. First you will need to jack up your vehicle or put it on ramps. Be certain to block the wheels so it won’t roll off and cause serious injury.
  2. Second, find your transmission pan and loosen the bolts. If it’s stuck you might need to pry it off.
  3. Third, allow the fluid to drain, meanwhile clean the old gasket off of the transmission pan.
  4. Fourth, after draining, remove the old filter and replace it with a new one.
  5. Fifth, put a new gasket on the pan and put it back in place, torquing the bolts evenly.

Last, refill the transmission with new fluid according to your vehicles recommendation. The vehicles manual should tell you what kind to use.

Servicing your transmission can prevent costly repairs and save you lots of money in the long run.
